Landscape Skills: A Registered Training Org Site That Sells Courses 24/7
Landscape Skills is a Registered Training Organisation delivering nationally recognised horticulture and landscaping qualifications. Their old site treated every visitor like they needed to phone in for information — course pages had no dates, no prices, no online enrolment. We rebuilt the site around a self-serve enrolment journey so students can find, understand and enrol in a course without ever waiting for business hours.

The Results
Illustrative outcomes reported by the client following the redesign. Figures reflect first-party observations, not independently audited metrics.
The Challenge
- Every course page ended in 'contact us for pricing and dates' — the single biggest barrier to enrolment for adult learners researching after hours.
- There was no visible RTO trust framework (RTO code, nationally recognised training marks, USI guidance) so first-time students weren't sure the qualification was legitimate.
- Course descriptions were paragraph-heavy with no clear breakdown of duration, delivery mode, units of competency or pathway outcomes.
- No Course schema meant the site was invisible to Google's course-specific SERP features.
The Approach
- Rebuilt every course page with a fixed layout: hero (price, duration, mode), what you'll learn, units of competency, delivery detail, dates, and an enrol-now CTA.
- Added an above-the-fold RTO trust band on every course page: RTO code, nationally recognised training mark, USI explainer, funding options.
- Implemented Course schema per qualification (name, provider, offers, hasCourseInstance with dates and mode) for course-carousel eligibility in Google.
- Built a streamlined enrolment flow: student picks a start date, fills a short form, and gets a written confirmation immediately — no phone tag required.
What We Built
Fixed course-page layout
Price, duration, mode, units, dates and CTA in the same place on every qualification — visitors learn the pattern once.
RTO trust band
RTO code, nationally recognised training mark, USI explainer and funding options in a compact band above the fold.
Course schema per qualification
Course + Offer + hasCourseInstance JSON-LD so Google can show the courses in course-carousel results.
Self-serve enrolment
Pick a start date, fill a short form, get confirmation immediately — no waiting for business hours.
Units of competency lists
Every course lists the nationally recognised units it delivers, satisfying compliance and search intent at once.
Fast Core Web Vitals
Sub-2.5s LCP, stable layout, minimal JavaScript — respectful of regional students on patchy connections.
"Students enrol on Sunday nights now. The website answers every question they had before they even opened an email."
Key Takeaways
- For adult learners, hiding price and dates behind a form is the biggest enrolment leak an RTO can have.
- RTO trust framework (code, NRT mark, USI, funding) belongs above the fold on every course page — not on a separate 'About' page.
- Course schema is one of the highest-leverage schema types in education — course carousels drive real click-through.
- A fixed layout across every course page makes both authoring and comparison easier.

Frequently Asked Questions
How should an RTO website structure its course pages?+
A consistent template per course: hero (price, duration, delivery mode), what you'll learn, units of competency, upcoming start dates, funding/USI guidance, and a clear enrol CTA. Consistency helps students compare and satisfies Google's Course schema requirements.
Do you need Course schema for an RTO site?+
You don't need it, but you should have it. Course schema with Offer and hasCourseInstance makes each qualification eligible for Google's course-carousel treatment, which materially lifts CTR for competitive qualifications.
Why show prices and dates on RTO course pages?+
Because adult learners research after hours and won't wait for a phone call to find out if a course fits their budget or schedule. Hiding either information is the single biggest enrolment leak we see on RTO sites.
How long does a Registered Training Organisation site take to build?+
Landscape Skills shipped in about ten days. Timeline scales mostly with the number of qualifications (each needs its own page, units list and schema) rather than overall site size.
What tech was used?+
React with TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Supabase for enrolment data, vite-imagetools for image delivery. Course + Offer + Organization schema across every qualification page.
